WHY WE RUN… IN OUR UNDIES
It’s quite simple, actually. Cupid’s Undie Run is a charity event. There are children out there suffering from a debilitating genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis (NF). NF causes tumor to grow all over the nervous system and can cause blindness, deafness, learning disabilities and severe chronic pain. If these children can be so brave as to deal with the cards they have been dealt, then the least we can do is face our owns fears in a manner that raises funds to help find them a cure.
We’re running for the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF), the world’s largest non-government organization dedicated to ending NF through research. Currently, there is no cure for NF and there are frighteningly few treatment options, but with the $3.5 million (& counting) we raised in 2016 – adding up to almost $11.5 million over the years – we are getting close.
Here’s a quick look at the personal story that led us to create Cupid’s Undie Run:
…and then there’s Jesse, a young boy from Cincinnati whose family we came to know very well. We knew we had to spread the word across the nation, so we’ve expanded and added new cities every year since 2012. Here is Jesse’s touching story:
But it’s not just Jesse in Cincinnati. There is Ashley in Seattle, Jack in Atlanta, Meghan in DC, Owen in Philly… and 2 million other brave souls fighting NF that need your help. You can read some of their stories in the Heroes section of our website.
Please do what you can to help today. We sincerely appreciate your donation. Together we will #EndNF.
The Children’s Tumor Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by NF, the term for three distinct disorders: NF1, NF2 and schwannomatosis.
From CTF.org: “Our mission is to advance peer-reviewed research to develop treatments and cures for NF; support persons with NF and their families by making thorough and accurate information readily available; assist in developing clinical centers and best practices to improve access to quality healthcare for those who live with NF; and expand public awareness of NF to improve diagnoses, increase understanding of the challenges that NF presents, and encourage support for NF research.”
All proceeds from Cupid’s Undie Run and it’s runners benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation and are tax-deductible. Learn more at www.CTF.org.
